The file manager
you can extend.

For macOS and Windows, keyboard-first,
and built for developers too.

Confirm by email, and we write when the beta opens.

Say what you want. Blob will do it.

Coming in beta launch

Tell Blob what you need in plain words, like “tag March’s invoices Work”. It uses the app’s own commands, shows you the files, and changes nothing until you press the button.

Blob's chat panel in Ostio on macOS: it found 4 invoices from March and waits for the OK to tag them Work.

command palette

Every action has a name.

One key opens it, typing narrows it, and the shortcut is shown beside every row so you stop needing it. Extensions add their commands to the same list.

⇧⌘P

An animation of the command palette: typing a few letters narrows the app's commands, and Enter runs the highlighted one.

extensions

Every part of it can be extended.

Git and Terminal are built as extensions, and yours plug into the same places: sidebar sections, toolbar items, columns, panels and previews.

The tools you’d usually download separately are part of the file manager.

  • Disk usage of the Studio folder: a map of blocks sized by what each folder takes, beside a list of the largest items.

    01 · disk usage

    See what fills the drive.

Open any folder as a map of what takes the space. Click a block to go inside it, and clear out what you no longer need from the list.

  • The Shelf beside the Studio folder, holding five items from other folders, with Copy here and Move here.

    02 · shelf

    Gather files from anywhere.

Drop files on the Shelf as you browse. When you reach the folder they belong in, copy or move them all at once.

  • Studio as a grid with a grey Archive folder and the Design folder turning pink in the Customize folder popover.

    03 · folder colors

    Folders you can tell apart.

Give a folder a color, so the one you need stands out in every view.

  • File operations: a copy to Google Drive and an extraction in progress, a failed delete with Retry, and two finished items with Undo.

    04 · status centre

    Every copy, in one place.

Copies, moves and extractions run in the background. Cancel one, retry what failed, undo a move or a rename.

walkthrough

One task, start to finish.

Find a file, look at it, change your mind. Four keys, and you already know them from the Mac.

Step 1: Open a tab for the job. A new tab starts on Home, next to the ones you have.

copy path

Paths, the way
you paste them.

Right-click any file and copy its path as you need it: the full path or relative to the project. No retyping, no fixing spaces.

Copy path · right-click or ⌥⌘C
